Bangalore, Feb 20: The Kanara Entrepreneurs (KE) held their first meeting of 2022 on Friday February 18 at the Grand Magrath Hotel here. It brought together nearly 100 members.
The meeting started at 6:45 p.m. with the KE prayer recited by Leena Lobo.
A minute of silence was observed in prayer for the soul of outgoing KE President, Charles Gomes’ mother, the late Angeline Gomes, who passed away on January 27 this year.
Wishes were sent to Jeethan Castelino who got married on February 16 and congratulations to Vivon and Shinie Pinto who were blessed with a daughter on January 16.
President Clarence Pereira welcomed members. In his welcome address, he reminded the assembly that Valentine’s Day was an expression of love and friendship that only gets better and stronger with good communication. “Similarly, even in business, we will always need to stay connected and communicate constantly with our employees, our suppliers, our customers, our stakeholders, the government and our community,” he said.
Clarence emphasized the need for some key points when communicating:
– Willingness to reciprocate
– Honest conversations not always with a benefit-seeking motive
– Treat others as you would like to be treated
– Welcoming feedback and respecting the ideas of others
“We listen half, we understand quarter, think zero and we react double,” he said.
With this powerful message, Clarence opened an engaging, exciting and eventful evening.
Pramod D’Souza, Governing Member, congratulated all members for the growing registrations and stressed the importance of communication and networking.
On this occasion, five new members were inducted with the swearing-in ceremony and all their seniors present gave them a standing welcome. They are Rohan Francis Fernandes, HR business partner, Sanjay Isaiah, licensed immigration and business consultant in Australia, Praveen Peter, owner of Niduslink, also an aspiring politician, Jimcy Raphael, CEO, Avenue Consultancy Pvt Ltd ( recruitment specialist) and Abraham Varghese, founder, Heliosys Technologies.
GenNow member Nishan energized the gathering with his explanation of the importance of communication on the dance floor. He shared great insights into the history of dance, the use of energy, and communication through actions that play an important role in dancing with a partner. He made all the participants dance to his tunes.
Afterwards, three other members took the stage to introduce their businesses and talked about how to get the most out of their products and services.

Leslie Quadros of Zebedee Ventures, a property consultant, has shared details of her new Canterbury Hills project. He shared how his organization had helped build houses and made it a rewarding experience. Martin D’Souza of Lighthouse Entertainment, an award-winning international entertainer, trainer and clown, hosted the rally. Martin is one of the few people for whom laughter is serious business.
To give an experience on networking, GenNow member Vilina Sequeira led a focus group discussion for all members. It was an opportunity to connect, get to know and express how people could support each other.
Anoop Sequeira hosted an eye-opening session on the power of networking. On a real-time platform, he demonstrated how and where we should use the KE network. The collective experience of around 2000 plus years in the room has been an incredible platform to start networking. He explained how this power of networking can help members to develop their activities or their knowledge in oneself.
The GenNow team led by Eugene Mathias shared their plans to review KE GenNow and invited more members to take advantage of the KE platform.
Neil Rodrigues, Vilina Sequeira and Nivedith Alva then shared their experiences with KE. They expressed their gratitude to KE for the multiple ways in which they benefited the members.
The meeting ended with the announcement of the appointment of two members to the Board of Directors, Sunil D’Sa, Associate Director – Events and Anil Peter Monteiro, Director – Marketing.
The facilitator Seleena Joshi led the effectively meeting. Philip Pais, Director of Events has taken all the provisions under the security protocols.
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks followed by further networking discussions, cocktails and dinner.
